About Me
I started my career in property in September 2003. Having graduated the University of Hull with a Business degree, I went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Surveying via the University of Reading. This qualification enabled me to commence the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) process to become a Chartered Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
In 2021 I decided to give something back to my profession and became an RICS APC Assessor, meaning I now sit on panels to assess new candidates who've worked towards membership. I hoped by offering my time, in the pathway of Planning and Development (P&D), I might help other candidates avoid the first experience I had of the APC interview, which was pretty terrible.
In 2022 I began filming a YouTube series aimed at helping others get into professional property development. Initially I planned to produce a 10 episode series that would to distill my 19 years experience into the key skills and tools I use most on a daily basis.
For those that don't know, it is a time consuming process to film and edit anything around a full time career with no help. This is especially true when you also want something concise but suitably detailed and useful. As such it has been a slower journey than expected and the series will now launch some time in 2023 - existing workload permitting!
I do however hope the channel will grow and develop into a useful resource for anyone considering a career in property.
